I am a thirty-something wife, mother of 2 young children, executive at a national real estate company, and Young Living Independent Distributor in the beautiful midwestern state of Indiana. I am on a journey to create a healthier lifestyle for myself and my family.
I have a busy life, as is often the case with 2 young children and a full time job. Add in a significant daily commute to the office and a lengthy battle with an aggressive disease, and you’ve got a recipe for utter physical and mental fatigue. It became clear to me in 2014 that something had to change.
It was then that I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis (aka endo) and pelvic adhesive disease. Two surgeries and a total hysterectomy later, I am now a very young (comparatively speaking, okay!) post menopausal woman.
Hormone balance is important as it controls my disease as well as every single thing about our daily lives – our emotions, memory, intestinal function, energy levels – you name it. I have to pay close attention to reducing the amount of potential hormone effect of the food I’m ingesting.
At the same time, my hormone replacement therapy puts me at risk for other problems. Reducing exposure to unnecessary chemicals just makes sense when I think about what I’m already potentially facing.
The pelvic adhesive disease ravaged my small intestines, colon, and peritoneum to name a few so balancing my diet with limited red meats (endo trigger), dairy (lactose intolerance), and adequate fiber are the key to my tummy’s happiness and therefore my overall enjoyment of life.
I’m not talking about going through my house and eliminating every unnatural thing, ever. That’s just not happening here. I finished the bottle of store bought cleaner before I mixed up the all natural essential oil infused Young Living Thieves all purpose cleaner (that I got for free thru an Essential Rewards bonus!). I will use the bazillion bottles of shampoo and conditioner we got on a major sale at CVS before I switch to a homemade concoction that I’m dying to try. I will diaper my son with the dreaded disposable diapers because I tried cloth with my daughter and I just couldn’t hang, okay?
One thing at a time. That’s all we have to do to make a difference for ourselves, our families, our planet, yada yada yada. Those one things add up fast and if you want you can even try to have a little fun with it or make some extra money. If you’ve got questions… well, ask away! I love to share my smarts 🙂
